Registration of candidates postponed

The government has directed that registration for national examinations in both Primary and Secondary schools be pushed to January 2014 as opposed to June 2013 for those currently in Class 7 and Form 3.
Nyando District Education Officer (DEO) William Minyiri said that it was prudent to allow parents more time to arrange for payment of the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.
However, Minyiri said the collection of the relevant bio data on candidates for both KCPE and KCSE will continue in readiness for the January National Examination registration as directed by the ministry headquarters through the latest circular sent to respective DEOs across the country.
Addressing 60 primary school head teachers converged at Awasi district headquarters, the DEO announced that the district education day has now been scheduled for Friday June 7th 2013 at Onjiko Boys High School with Siaya County Director of Education Nereah Olick as the chief guest.
The DEO appealed to all schools management to release pupils and students to attend the important occasion which provides an opportunity to appraise the district performance and chart the way forward with a view to improving academic performance.
