Red Bull Academy moves to Kenya

25 February 2015, 17:00 Eugene Odanga

Nairobi - The Red Bull Music Academy is finally making its way to Kenya courtesy of its alumni Blinky Bill from Just a Band.

The academy is a series of world tour workshops and festivals which was started in 1998 and has since been touring cities, bringing music to the public and experience to the musicians. It has a public side which includes a festival of concerts, art installations, club nights and lectures given by some of the biggest names in the music industry.

The other side, is an invite only artist oriented section which is custom-fitted with a large recording studio, a lecture hall, a radio booth and between eight to twelve bedroom-sized studios. Up to 60 up and coming artists, producers and Deejays from all over the world get to learn from and collaborate with some of the biggest names in the music industry.

The first of these club nights will be held on the 25th of February at the Bachuss club here in Nairobi starting from 8pm till late. It will feature Blinky Bill himself, backed up by Kenya night’s very own Suraj and the Dread Steppa.
