Tension sparked at Dol Dol town in Laikipia North district following reports that two teachers alleged to have raped two underage girls had been released from the area police station cells.
The teacher at Dol Dol Boys secondary school and his colleague at Dol Dol primary school had been frog-marched to the nearby Dol Dol police station by irate members of public.
They are said to have raped the girls who are sisters over the weekend.
One of the victims is a standard eight pupil at a local school while her elder sister is waiting to join form one this term.
The suspects are said to have parted with KES 60 000 for the issue to be done away with, a matter which the OCS Bernard Ateba denied.
Contacted over the matter, Dol Dol primary school head teacher Yoakim Kuraru said the money had been given as cash bail awaiting to be taken to court.
“The money was for cash bail and not bribe,” said Kuraru.
Area police boss Benjamin Maritim confirmed the arrest saying that they will be arraigned in court once the investigations are over.
A medic at Dol Dol district hospital Ken Nakitari who examined the minors said that they had indeed been raped, adding that they did not contract any disease.
One of the suspects is employed by Board of Governors of Dol Dol Boys School, and is waiting to join University later in the year.
