'Rape' MP taken for medical tests by police

24 March 2015, 15:40 Victor Tinto

Nairobi - Imenti Central MP Gideon Mwiti has been taken by police for medical testing to determine if he was indeed involved in an alleged rape case.

The MP has been accused by a woman of raping her over the weekend in his Westlands office and investigations are already underway to determine if the MP indeed raped the woman.

According to police sources, the MP has been taken for medical testing in an unknown place where it will be determined if he indeed committed the deed.

" The MP was taken for testing to determine if he indeed was behind the allegations," The source that did not want to be named told News24.

" He cooperated and caused no problems. This is a big case that needs to be acted on, orders from above," the source added.

The raped woman was asked to take an AIDS test to determine her HIV status before her ordeal.

The woman has claimed that she was raped by Imenti Central MP Gideon Mwiti at his Westlands offices after he requested for a late night meeting.

She claims that the MP had asked her to take an AIDS test, which she did not know about and that he quickly demanded for sex after he knew her results, which turned negative.

" The MP asked for sex immediately after the AIDS test, the woman whose identity will not be revealed due to the nature of the case told News24.

" It was sinister because it was a business meeting and after I refused to take the test, I was beaten and later on abused, she added.

The woman who tried to reach her husband but who failed to save her because the MP has several offices in the city and did not know where to find his wife, is admitted at the Nairobi Women's Hospital.

She says that she will move forward with the case because she is sure the MP has done the same to other women previously.

" It is a matter that needs to be sorted by the authorities. It cannot go on. He has to respect women, she added.

It is alleged that Mwiti has tried severally to sort the case out of court with the woman, but she and her family have insisted that the MP be prosecuted for the offence.
