Nyeri - A game ranger and a moran were shot dead Friday during a fight between two groups of herdsmen in a cattle rustling raid at Buffalo Springs Game Reserve in Isiolo County.
Six morans were also injured during the raid, County Police Coordinator Jacob Mukiri confirmed.
Mukiri said the casualties were rushed to Wamba Catholic Mission Hospital while the bodies of the deceased were taken to Isiolo Level Four Hospital.
He revealed that one of the deceased persons was a ranger from a conservancy in Samburu County and was among the morans who were tracking down 106 cattle stolen last week.

He said that security officers and local leaders from Isiolo side jointly helped to recover part of the stolen cattle at Daaba grazing area.
He added that security officers would not give up until the remaining 76 animals were recovered and the suspects arrested.
Mukiri further said that frequent patrols at Buffalo Springs Game Reserve have been mounted in order to rid it of few criminal elements intruding into the area to either graze animals or poach wildlife.
“The rustlers would not be allowed access into the game reserve this time round since it is the peak season for tourists visiting various destinations in the County. We are warning that the operation in the game reserves will not stop soon and intruders will not be spared,” he said.
