Laikipia - Tension gripped residents of Segera location in Laikipia County after a 50-year-old man who was working as a guard at Ngare Ngiro Ranch Conservancy was killed by suspected herders Wednesday evening.
Residents said the deceased was hacked to death using a machete.
They suspected that the killing was linked to an incident where a herder drowned in a dam recently while fleeing from security officers who were driving away his animals from the conservancy.

The conservancy is owned by an influential Nairobi-based businessman.
During the Wednesday evening incident, the assailants further entered the ranch and destroyed an excavator before burning down a police post that was under construction.
This is not the first conflict between Laikipia ranchers and herdsmen.
