Raila's trip to the US comes at the wrong time for ODM

Nairobi - There will be no leadership vacuum at the Orange Democratic Movement ODM despite Raila Odinga's absence.
The ODM leader will spend a month in the United States of America in a visit facilitated by the African Presidential Centre at the Boston University.
His absence though comes at a time when there is unrest in the party following the botched February 28 elections.
And even though he leaves the country having set in motion steps to ensure the party is on track, there are still uncertainties as to whether the party will cope without his presence.
" The party is fine and will be left under the stewardship of Professor Anyang Nyong'o, a source at Orange House said.
It is understood that Nyong'o will address issues that may affect the party in Raila's absence even though his ability to fill Raila's shoes will be questioned.
" Raila is the heartbeat of this party. His absence will be heavily felt, the source continued.
And with the process to ensure that the road-map to fresh elections is perfect as well as that of calming down the party after events of recent weeks underway, it might seem that Raila's absence is not all that welcome.
