Nairobi - CORD leader Raila Odinga has visited Kibera slums, an impromptu visit that has caused government officials to cancel theirs.
The last minute visit Wednesday, which according to his spokesman Dennis Onyango was to inspect the movement of slum upgrading programmes also coincided with that of Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero and Devolution cabinet secretary Ann Waiguru.
The two were thus forced to cancel their visit to the slum till later in the week.
Raila called on the government to complete the slum upgrade project he started during his tenure in office as Prime Minister.
" The government must see to it that this programme is completed and that the resettlement process is devoid of the current problems that exist," he said.

He also called on the government to kick out a case win which slum dwellers have been denied entry into housing units, saying it was detrimental to the much needed slum upgrade programmes.
" It is important that the government is seen to support plans to upgrade living standards in slums," he added.
Raila's visit comes just a few days after president Uhuru Kenyatta visited the area.
Waiguru and Kidero are also set to address the state of living standards in Kibera when they visit, in what is expected to be a Friday visit.
