Raila sues Duale
24 August 2015, 18:10
Nairobi - CORD leader Raila Odinga has started legal proceedings against Majority leader of the National Assembly Aden Duale over remarks made allegedly disparaging Odinga.
The CORD leader, through lawyer Paul Mwangi has said that Duale has made him out to look like an irresponsible human being and a poor leader, claims he cannot back up.
According to Raila, Duale, during a function in Kericho stated that the former Prime Minister owes Mumias Sugar Company KES 40 million and urged western Kenya leaders to go to his office and collect the money.
" The collapse of Mumias did not start during Uhuru's tenure. It began during the tenure of former President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Odinga. I urge Western Kenya leaders to go to his office and collect a cheque of KES 40 million," he said.
Duale, also said similar things about Raila three days later, referring to him as a lord of poverty amongst other things.
" I want our friend Raila Odinga the lord of poverty to go to western Kenya and welcome the people and after talking to them, give them the cheque so that they can take their children to school," he said in part.
The suit is set to be filed in court after Duale is presented with the papers.
Raila has so far denied that he has any money owed to Mumias after also being accused of the same by Deputy President William Ruto.
" I owe Mumias nothing and those who have any questions can go ask the relevant authorities," he added.
Raila has also threatened to sue Ruto over the same allegations.
