Nairobi - ODM leader Raila Odinga has reconciled leaders from the Kajiado Central region, who had fallen out over the recent nomination exercise.
The leaders had threatened to leave the party after they claimed that winner of the party's nomination process in the constituency after Memusi Kanchori won the primaries last week.
Dr Naomy Kipuri, who was among the losers in the ODM primaries and with the party badly needing to win back the seat lost after the ascension to the cabinet of current Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery.
Odinga, speaking Tuesday in a meeting between the two, said it was vital that they work together to ensure that they are able to win the by election.
" We have to work together. At the end of the day, there is only one winner in such scenarios and we have to agree to work together for the betterment of the party," he said.
" I cannot say that we agree to everything, but we must be able to work together even when everything is not going in our favour," he added.
Kanchori added that the party would be united going into the by election and that he expected a win for the party.
" We are very confident. All indication is that our support is growing and that we are leading in the race. I am confident we will deliver victory," he said.
The by election will be held on Friday February 13, 2015.
