'Raila no longer has a laughing shoe'
25 February 2015, 14:04
Nairobi - CORD leader Raila Odinga does not have a laughing shoe, well, no longer has.
The CORD leader was embarrassingly photographed wearing a torn pair of shoes over the weekend during a church service in Nairobi Sunday.
Considering his status as a former Prime Minister and one of the most popular personalities in the country it was obviously a question as to why his shoe was well, laughing.
And considering the former PM was the butt of jokes, there needed to be a clarification over the matter.
" There was nothing in that story. He tripped on a stone and his shoe opened up. There is nothing else and for the record, the shoe was replaced a few minutes later", a member of his entourage that did not want to be named told News24.
" You could not expect him to just leave proceedings and change his shoes. It was not possible, so it was handled later," the aide added.
The shoe remains a part of the former PM's wardrobe it seems, but it is not yet clear whether he has used it on his trip to Lesotho, which begins today.
The former PM will be an election observer in elections that will take place in the southern African country Saturday.
