Nairobi - CORD leader Raila Odinga held talks with Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete in Dar-Es-Salaam Monday.
Railla was in Dar prior to his departure later in the day for Zanzibar where he is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the Global Peace Leadership conference Tuesday.
The two leaders held discussions on regional peace and stability with the threat of extremism and terror becoming more pertinent in recent times.
In addition to this, the Prime Minister and the President further discussed the promotion of good governance and democratic practices in the greater East Africa.
" The talks were centred on ensuring that the East African region remains on the right path in as far as the rights of its people are kept safe," he said.
The former Prime Minister emphasized the adherence to the constitutional tenet of term limits for African leaders and commended the President for steering a credible and democratic transition in Tanzania.
This follows the move by both Uganda's, Rwanda's and Burundi's Presidents to seek extra terms in office against the spirit of the various countries' constitutions.
