Raila disrespecting women leaders in Kenya, ODM MP says

15 September 2015, 12:03 Jackson Okata

Nakuru - An ODM member of parliament has slammed his party leader, Raila Odinga for what he termed as disrespect for women leaders in the country.

Nakuru Town West MP, Samuel Arama was responding to calls by Raila Odinga that Devolution Cabinet Secretary Ann Waiguru resign over the National Youth Service (NYS) corruption saga.

Speaking Monday in Nakuru, Arama said the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is mandated to deal with such issues.

“This is a serious matter that should not be politicised. We have relevant bodies that will tell Kenyans the truth. Our brother (Raila) is behaving like he has scores to settle with Waiguru,” he said.

“Raila has issues with Waiguru and he looks for any available opportunity to attack her but we want to tell him that that is not right. What Waiguru has done in her docket is commendable and every Kenyan should support her,” he said.

Arama said taking over the issue during political rallies was not offering any solution to the allegations but was instead preventing justice from taking its course.

“Leadership is about responsibility and accountability. If at all Raila feels he has the facts concerning the saga, why is he keeping Kenyans in jeopardy? Let him come out and table everything for the sake of the truth we need,” Arama added.
