Raila condemns attack on Khalwale

17 July 2015, 12:37 Dennis Omido

Nairobi - Former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga has condemned Thursday's attack on Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale by rowdy youths alleged to be supporters of Nairobi Governor, Evans Kidero.

“Attack on Hon. Khalwale by thugs at the court of law stands condemned by the entire Cord fraternity,” the Cord leader said.

His former aide, Eliud Owalo also condemned the incident terming it as unwarranted, primitive and deplorable.

“Hiring goons to harass any Kenyan citizen, least of all an elected leader whose only crime appears to be his determination to pin point instances of endemic graft is unacceptable in this day and age.

“As much as whoever pays the piper may have the conviction that he calls the tune, any leader who condescends to such low levels no longer has the moral ground to continue being in any position of leadership, Owalo said.

The incident happened at the Milimani Courts where Khalwale had gone for the mention of the defamation case Kidero filed against him.

He was attacked by angry youths, who were chanting pro-Kidero slogans.

Kidero sued Khalwale after he refused to apologize over the remarks he made linking him to corruption Mumias Sugar Company.
