Nairobi - CORD leader Raila Odinga bailed out struggling Kenyan Premier League side AFC Leopards after they were detained in a Mombasa hotel due to unpaid bills.
The CORD leader was forced to intervene after Leopards were locked in the hotel Tuesday night and Wednesday for failing to clear their bills.
Odinga was helped on his way by Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho.
Leopards were in Mombasa to participate in a KPL clash with Bandari Tuesday, which they won 2-1 at the Mbaraki Sports Club.
They have been laden with financial troubles ever since chief sponsors Mumias Sugar experienced financial trouble last year and have had players boycott training sessions in recent times.
Leopards are fourth in the KPL standings.
