Nairobi - The Orange Democratic Movement ODM has been forced into a rarely seen unified front as it approaches the Kajiado Central by election.
The Orange Democratic Movement ODM as well as the coalition at large is desperate to win back the seat left vacant by Joseph Nkaissery's move to the cabinet to take the position of Interior Cabinet Secretary.
The party leadership, backed up by members of the CORD coalition Wednesday vowed to head to Kajiado from the weekend to campaign for their candidate Elijah Memusi Kanchori.
The by election will be held Friday 13 February.
Kanchori was awarded the ODM certificate of nomination by CORD leaders Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula Wednesday.
The three leaders said that they were confident that Kanchori would deliver the goods for the party.
" He is the main man and we will support him to the end," Raila said of the party's candidate.
Kalonzo on his part, wished Kanchori the best and asked people of Kajiado Central to move to vote for the CORD candidate in the upcoming election.
" I ask the people of Kajiado Central to support our candidate and help institute change in the region," he said.
Wetangula criticized the government of not having the people in their agenda and asked voters to consider that when they went to the polls.
" This is an anti people government as we have seen on so many occasions already. Let us not vote for them," he said.
Kanchori on his part said that he knows he is the most popular candidate in the constituency and was confident that he would see off the Jubilee Alliance Party in the vote.
