Raila: I will not vie for Homa Bay seat
08 December 2014, 17:02
Nairobi - ODM leader Raila Odinga says that he will not vie for the Homa Bay Senatorial seat.
The party leader said Monday that he would not run for the seat because he did not think he was the right man to represent the interests of Homa Bay residents.
This follows a request by several MPs and Homa Bay leaders and elders for Raila to run for the seat left vacant after the death of Otieno Kajwang.
But in a statement Monday in Nairobi, Raila said that he was more suited to building ODM than running for a place in Senate.
" I thank Homa Bay leaders and elders for proposing that I represent them but sadly, I have to look forward to rebuilding ODM. That is my job, he said.
Kajwang died after suspected heart failure last week.
