Mombasa - Drama unfolded at the Mombasa County stadium when Public Service Trade Unions(Pusetu) officials were blocked from addressing the gathering that had attended Labour Day celebrations.
Pusetu and Cotu officials engaged in a war of words after the master of ceremony declared that the gathering had to disperse without without giving any official from Pusetu a chance to address the gathering.
Pusetu officials led by the Dock Workers Union secretary general, Simon Sang, blamed the organizers of the event for failing to consider their presence at the event.
No official from the Mombasa County government attended the event.
Nominated senator Emma Mbura was also denied a chance to address the gathering.
“What we saw from Cotu was not expected, if this is what it has been doing then we have lost hope in them,” said Sang.
He said Pusetu was going to declare Mombasa County its zone in the next 8 Months.
“We are going to change the arithmetic way of representation, we are going to declare Mombasa county a Pusetu Zone," he said.
Already workers from the Kenya Ports Authority, the Kenya Power and Lightning Company and the Kenya National Union of Teachers coast branch have joined the newly founded body.
