Pupils receive donation of school bags from Airtel

09 September 2014, 15:47 Nechesa Chemoi

Kilifi - Airtel Kenya Monday donated school bags to Silala Primary School children in Kilifi County.

The donation was part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility and its commitment towards assisting schools across the country with the necessary needed support to improve and better their education.

In a statement, Airtel Kenya CEO Adil noted that the company has continued to strive not only in providing world class telecommunications experience to customers, but also endeavor to support the socio economic development of communities in Kenya.
“Education has been one of the key focus area for Airtel and it will remain to be the important investment a county can make in its people.

As the parents and the pupils gear up for a new term, we hope that our support has lightened the financial burden of the parents and guardians and encouraged the children to study hard and achieve more,” he added.

On his part, the school’s Head teacher Boaz Kamoni thanked Airtel for the timely gesture and asked other organizations to consider helping the school as it faces various challenges including poor infrastructure. He stressed that the support will go a long way in helping the students concentrate on their studies.

“On behalf of the school, I’d like to thank Airtel for the donation. The children are excited with their new backpacks, as we begin a new term. We believe that the bags would go a long way to motivate these children to learn hard since most of them come to school without bags,” Kamoni said.
