Nakuru - Property worth millions of shillings was destroyed after a fierce fire gutted a garage at the Kenya industrial estates in Nakuru on Tuesday morning.
The fire, whose cause could not be established immediately, started at around 6.30am from one stall and quickly spread to the others.
During the incident, several vehicles were razed down.
According to an eyewitness, David Njenga, they were not able to salvage most of their property since the fire was uncontrollable.
“The fire began from one of the stalls and by the time we got here, we were not able to rescue our property,” he said.
Firefighters from the municipal council of Nakuru had a difficult time battling the flames owing to the explosive nature of items inside the garage stalls.
Njenga also said that the firefighters took long to respond to their distress call saying they could have saved a lot of their property if they had arrived in time.
Some motor vehicle spare shops were also razed down.
No one was injured during the incident.
