Promise to miraa farmers made Kiraitu senator

Energy Minister Kiraitu Murungi promise to try and lift the ban on Miraa which has been banned in 14 countries worldwide if elected Senator to the Meru County is one of the most awaited promises by the Ameru, now that he has victoriously won the seat.
He had promised he will promote the interests of the Miraa farmer whom he said has brought prosperity through production of the crop to the Meru County, if elected senator.
The Minister who is the Party leader of the Alliance Party of Kenya made the promise while addressing a crowd of people at the Maua town in Meru County during his previous campaigns.
In his agenda, he promised to improve the livelihoods of the Meru people through creation of job facilities.
On Wednesday, the senator together with the Imenti North parliamentary winner Rahim Dawood and the women representative winner Imenti North Florence Kajuju celebrated their victory in Meru as their convoy of vehicles rocked the whole town with their supporters chanting victory songs dancing with joy.
The senator elect underscored the importance of maintaining peace, law and order during the electioneering process as the country awaits the final presidential results.
