Priest killed and parts sliced out

08 January 2013, 11:52 Rodgers Buluma

Police in Lamu have launched an investigation into a tragic killing of a priest in Mpeketoni, Lamu County.

Lamu West police commander Joseph Sigei said that the priest left his home to the forest where he wanted to fetch polls for construction but never came back.

The following morning, his family and friends embarked on a search only to find him dead at a distance of about 600 meters from his home.

Sigei added that his men had landed important information that is expected to give them a limelight into the killing and the killers.

The body parts of the Evangelical Covenant priest who dwells in Sese area are said to have been sliced out after the murder.

It is said that the night before his death, his goats were stolen and he seemed to have some clue regarding who the raiders were.

Police think that the priest was killed to silence any evidence that was due to come out regarding the raid.

Residents of Sese area have expressed fear over their safety and called upon the government to quickly investigate the killing of the priest.

Police have confirmed that they are searching for the killers of the God's servant and at the same time find out the motive behind the killing as soon as possible.

The police commander called upon any person with information that could lead to the identification of the killers to forward it to the investigation team that is handling the scase.
