Powerful cartels threatening fight against corruption, claims MPs

05 November 2015, 11:11 Jackson Okata

Nakuru - Two members of parliament allied to the Jubilee coalition have claimed that a powerful cartel is threatening Jubilee MPs who speak openly against corruption in government.

Molo Mp, Jacob Macharia and his Nakuru east counterpart, David Gikaria said that Jubilee MPs are being threatened for speaking against the mega corruption in government.

The two legislators said that powerful businessmen and politicians who work from within government are using some members of parliament to warn those making noise about corruption.

Speaking Wednesday evening in Nakuru town, the two MPs said that some members of parliament have received text messages warning them against talking about corruption with threats of punishment.

“Some people who own government have been warning Jubilee MPs through proxies that they should not point fingers at cabinet secretaries implicated in corruption especially those from the Mount Kenya region,” said Gikaria.

“Those who speak against Waiguru have been told to shut up or be taught a lesson and that is why most members of parliament from the President’s backyard are defending Waiguru with all their energy,” said Macharia.

The two MPs threatened to name all powerful individuals whom they claimed are holding the President and the country at ransom.

“These people are within government and they are very powerful but we want to tell them that enough is enough and we will publicly name them and tell the country about their activities,’’ said Gikaria.
