Poll winners promise to work together

Winners in the Nyandarua County have called on the losers to join hands with them to help steer meaningful development in the region although tallying of votes for the Nyandarua senate and gubernatorial and women representative positions was delayed for the third day on Wednesday after returning officers failed to arrive at the tallying center on time.
Various aspirants who were contesting for various seats were kept waiting at Ol Kalou Catholic hall for the better part of the day as they awaited for results.
However, winners for the gubernatorial, senatorial and women representative seats were announced moments after midnight by the Nyandarua County returning officer Mary Njugi.
Daniel Waithaka Mwangi alias “Elite” of TNA emerged the winner after garnering 162 418 votes while his closest rival Peter Mwangi Gathimba (GNU) got 55 896 while former Kinangop M.P David Ngugi of Narc garnered 19 561.
For the Senate seat, Former Ol Kalou M.P Eng. Muriuki Karue won as was Wanjiku Muhia (TNA) for the county Women representative who scored 158 486 to beat Faith Wairimu of Farmers Party who garnered 36 021 voted.
In their acceptance speech, they said that this was just a competition and should not be used to divide residents but instead should be an opportunity to bring them together for the common good.
They pledged to lead by example in helping the county move with speed in terms of realizing the much needed infrastructural development.
They thanked the residents of Nyandarua for giving them an opportunity to serve them saying they will live by their words.
