Provincial administration in Malindi and Magarini have threatened to make public names of politicians vying for various political positions who have failed to clear their debts.
According to provincial administrator who refused to be named said some politicians in the area are going round seeking voters' support in the coming general election and yet they have refused to clear their debts.
The officer said most of them had obtained funds from various government loaning institutions.
He said if such people are elected in certain positions in the coming county government, they will misuse public funds.
"We cannot trust someone who has defaulted repaying their loans. If they don't pay, their names will be made public so that voters can avoid them during election," he noted.
The officer was addressing women groups in Malindi where 37 women groups received KES 2.5 million from the Women Enterprise Fund.
The administrator also called on all groups who received funds to ensure that they inject them to productive development initiatives for the sake of getting money to pay it back.
The source added that those who don't pay back loans will not be allowed to get loans from any government loaning institutions again.
