Nairobi - A policeman who took photos of a girl who had hidden bhang in her undergarments will face the law after an NGO sued the police service in court.
The girl's parents have already sought the services of a lawyer who is looking to sue the police service for the leaked images.
And now, the Cradle Children Foundation has gone to court Friday, saying that the stripping and photographs violate the girl’s rights enshrined in the constitution.
It also says that the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child have been broken.
" The police officer exposed her to severe mental anguish," Cradle's legal affairs officer Prudence Mutiso said.
" Every person has inherent dignity and the right to have that dignity protected, including their privacy," she added.
The parents of the girl have also stated that they will seek the 18 month probation handed to her over drug offenses be reversed, saying that her violations by the police carry more weight.
The girl was among 35 students found drunk and having sex in a matatu which was on its way to Nairobi, last week.
