Kampala - A police officer who abandoned his wife and instead eloped with a rich widow and a mother of 11 children got a treat when his wife attacked him in a restaurant and beat him up.
Nick Taya, a police officer in Serere district, 350 kms east of Kampala was reportedly relaxing with the widow in a restaurant when his wife Stella Nako attacked them.
The restaurant belongs to the widow, only identified as Merab.
One of the workers in the restaurant, Nancy Asio said: ''The policeman was with our boss when his wife walked in. She grabbed the plates of food and bottles of beer on their table and poured them at the two. Our boss fled as the husband and wife started fighting each other.''
Asio added that since the policeman had taken several bottles of beer and was drunk, his wife overpowered him.
''The policeman sounded an alarm and people ran to his rescue,'' said Asio.
They were later taken to the police station where the wife accused the husband for neglecting his family.
The officer in charge of child and family protection, Florence Asero said they are investigating the case.
