Nairobi - A policeman was shot on the neck by his fellow officers in unclear circumstances in Nairobi's South B estate.
The incident took place Tuesday evening when the officer was ambushed by his fellow officers who accused him of allegedly mugging area residents.
In a police report seen by News24, the officers allegedly were called into action by members of the public who claimed that he was a mugger.
The police allegedly approached the officer and asked him to surrender but he supposedly shot at them instead, according to the report.
" It is alleged that he shot at officers after being asked to surrender," Amos Shamalla the Industrial Area Police commander told News24.
The officer shot was named as David Mariga of the anti mugging unit and a Ceska Pistol in his possession recovered.
He was admitted at the Mater Hospital and is in stable condition.
