Police waited hours to arrest Koinange outside his home

Nairobi - Police have been waiting hours for TV host Jeff Koinange outside his home to arrest him.
Koinange, who was arrested Tuesday by police and taken to the Milimani Police Station to answer to charges of contempt of court.
He was later on released on bail.
" OK Folks, I'm OUT.....Cash Bail.....JKL rolls on.......Thanks for all your kind words of Support...See you tomorrow," he said on his Twitter feed.
It was earlier however stated by the prosecution that they were forced to wait long hours for Koinange who had not stayed at his home for a number of days.
" He was not at home for a few days and we had to put alot of effort in to arrest him," The prosecution stated in its submission.
Koinange tried in vain Monday to have his arrest, ordered last week
by a Nairobi magistrate be stopped at the High Court as he was deemed
not to have followed valid court processes.
Through lawyer Gitobu Imanyara, Koinange was forced to wait till Wednesday when the matter will be heard.
High Court judge Weldon Korir directed Koinange to serve the
Attorney-General and the magistrate’s court with their application for
inter-partes hearing on Wednesday.
Magistrate Maisy Chesang last week issued a warrant of arrest
against the two for failing to appear in court to answer charges of
contempt. They are accused of discussing businessman
Jimi Wanjigi, Sani Mbui Wanjigi and their company, the Kwacha Group
during Koinange’s Jeff Koinange Live Show JKL, this despite the court
Koinange has been charged alongside Tony Gachoka, with whom they were together on the show.
insisted that his client was not served with a notice to stop the
discussion and that thus, the arrest warrant was erroneous.
