Nyahururu - An expectant woman was Wednesday night attacked and raped by unknown assailants in Ol Kalou town, Nyandarua County.
Confirming the incident, Nyandarua central OCPD Wilson Kosgei said that police in the sub-county have launched a manhunt for the two suspects.
According to the OCPD, the woman was heading to JM Ol Kalou Memorial hospital to deliver while accompanied by two other women when the two men emerged from a thicket at Jua Kali estate and attacked them.
“The women escorting her to the hospital fled, leaving the victim who had already gone into labour in the hands of the two men. They hit her on the head before dragging her to a nearby thicket where they raped and left her for the dead,” said the OCPD.
Kosgei noted that the woman who had suffered head injuries in the incident is still recovering at Ol Kalou JM Memorial where she was taken by a good Samaritan.
