Police recruit charged with theft out on bond

Nyeri - A police recruit accused of stealing a mobile phone from a colleague at the Kiganjo police training college was released on a bond of KES 10 000 by a Nyeri court.
Appearing before Resident Magistrate John Aringo, Sharon Ntaloshi was charged that on June 28 this year at the police college in Nyeri county she stole a Nokia Asha mobile phone worth KES 6 500 owned by Christine Nyamboke.
Ntaloshi apparently pretended to be sick and was left in the dormitory sleeping while her colleagues went to the field for the early morning exercises.
On her return, Nyamboke noticed that her phone was missing and immediately reported the matter to their instructor.
A body search was conducted and the phone was found hiddenon Ntaloshi.
The accused however denied the charges and was released on a bond of KES 10 000 and a surety of a similar amount or a cash bail of similar amount.
The case will proceed on September 9.
