Police recover hundreds of stolen mobile phones

Kirinyaga - Police in Kirinyaga County Tuesday recovered hundreds of stolen mobile phones and a laptop at a house near Kagio town.
Security officers raided the house where they recovered 345 assorted mobile phones, a laptop, radio speakers and other electronic equipment.
Speaking to the press in his office after the incident, Kirinyaga County Police Commander David Rono said the suspect escaped.
He said that a woman was robbed of her mobile phone at Kerugoya town yesterday and after she reported the incident to Kerugoya police station, CID officers started tracking the gadget.

“They immediately started tracking it leading to the discovery of the assorted phones and other electronic gadgets in the suspect’s house,” said the police boss.
Rono said that security officers were in pursuit of the suspect, who fled leaving behind his children in the house.
He suspected that the phones were stolen from different areas in the County and appealed to members of the public who have lost electronics to visit his office to check whether they are among those recovered.
