Police in Imenti North District of Meru County have recovered a
magazine containing 12 rounds of ammunition a few days after an empty
G3 rifle was recovered at Nchiru Forest in the within the vast Lower
Imenti Forest.
Police suspect the magazine belongs to the G3 gun
recovered at the same point where 5 suspected robbers were arrested in
connection to a carjacking of a Thika based business vehicle last week.
Speaking
to the media area OCPD James Kithuka promised to continue with security
surveillance until all robbers in the region were brought to book.
Kithuka
said for the recent past the region has experienced cases of armed
robberies especially at Nchiru area along the Meru-Maua Road prompting
police to intensify surveillance in the area.
He urged residents to calculate their time well in view that most robberies occurred during late hours.
He
said police in collaboration with the Meru Municipal Council were
working out on modalities to contain late night beverage business
following hints that some criminals posed as night business people.
