Police pursue sex workers who partner with thugs to fleece truck drivers

Nakuru - Long distance truck drivers using the Nairobi-Nakuru-Eldoret highway and who normally make a stop over at the 'famous' Salgaa trading center have been warned to be wary of commercial sex workers who have started partnering with armed gangs to rob the drivers.
Nakuru police boss, Bernard Kioko has warned that cases of truck drivers being robbed while in the company of sex workers have been on the increase at Salgaa.
He said that sex workers lure truck drivers into lodges or bars where they later alert the robbers to come in and steal their money and other valuables.

"Sex workers have decided to partner with armed gangs to steal from long distance truck drivers.The sex workers are being used as baits by the gangs to trap the drivers," said Kioko.
He added that the truck drivers are being targeted because they are beleived to be in possesion of huge sums of money whenever they are on the road.
"We are calling on drivers to desist from carrying huge sums of money into lodges or bars because this makes them a soft target by the sex workers and the gangs.They are advised to find a better way of keeping their money instead of showing it openly," he said.
The police boss said that they are pursuing leads that could see the arrest of teh gang members and their accomplices
