Police officers investigating unidentified middle aged man body found floating at Malindi beach

25 April 2012, 12:05 Alloys Musyoka

Police officers in Malindi are investigating a case where a middle aged man body was found dead floating along the beach at Kibokoni in Malindi District on Monday.

The deceased body was found along the beach floating by villagers who later informed police officers.

According to Kazungu Karisa a villager, the deceased may had drowned in the Indian Ocean in other areas before his body was pushed by sea water to the beach at the village.

“We think the body of the deceased was pushed by strong sea winds to this area from other areas after drowning because the body is already rotten,” he noted.

He said they called police officers after spotting the deceased body floating at the beach.

The body of the deceased was taken to Malindi District Hospital Mortuary where it is still awaiting to be identified.

Malindi Police boss confirmed the incident and said that his officers were still investigating.

“My officers are still investigating the incident to find out whether the deceased was killed somewhere else and dropped in the Indian Ocean or he drowned,” he added.

He said they were still waiting for relatives of the deceased person to come over their missing person at the police station before making any initial report public over the death of the man.
