Mombasa - A security officer linked to the death of a 22-year-old woman from Mpeketoni, Lamu county, will face death charges if found guilty.
This is after Lamu acting County Commissioner, Fredrick Ndambuki ordered for the immediate arrest of the officer before arraigning him on murder charges.
It is said that the officer threw a gun at the boda boda operator who was carrying Margaret Njeri in an attempt to stop him, but it missed him and instead landed on the woman's head. The force and weight of the gun caused Njeri to fall off the speeding motorbike, sustaining severe head injuries.
Margaret Njeri died later at the Padya Hospital where she was undergoing treatment.

Ndambuki said investigations on the same are still ongoing and soon the suspect will be arraigned to face charges.
“I am calling upon people to be calm as our security apparatus conduct a conclusive investigation,” Ndambuki claimed.
The deceased had been admitted to Pandya Hospital since January 17 after she sustained severe head injuries from the assault.
National police service commission chairman, Johnstone Kavuludi had on January odered for investigations into the incident.
Kavuludi, who was on a coastal tour during the coastal police vetting exercise, said such indiscipline cannot not be allowed in the police service.
