Nyeri - Poachers have killed a black rhino at the privately owned Solio Ranch in Nyeri County.
The unknown number of armed poachers cut an electric fence at the expansive ranch Tuesday night before killing the rhino using a rifle.
They later chopped off the two horns and left behind a carcass at around 10.00pm incident.
Aberdare National Park Senior warden, Catherine Wambani said that the KWS rangers on patrol heard a gun shot and started pursuing the poachers but are yet to arrest any.

“We are still pursing the poachers. This is a very serious incident since this poaching must come to an end,” she said.
This comes barely a fortnight after two suspects were arrested at Chaka trading centre in Kieni East Sub-county looking for market for 6.5kg rhino horns.
The matter is still in court.
