Police search for illicit brew suspects

Nyeri - Police in Nyeri have launched manhunt for several illicit brew suppliers at Kangemi Estate who escaped Wednesday morning during a police raid in the region.
The suspects have been distributing the brew across the Nyeri sub-County despite the regular police raids at their manufacturing sites, according to area deputy commissioner, John Marete.
Marete said that Administration Police officers raided the sites during the early hours of the morning but the suspects managed to escape.
However, they nabbed about 150 litres of the illicit brew and the preparation equipment which are now confiscated at Nyeri central police station.
The administrator expressed confidence that the suspects will be apprehended soon since they are well known and police have adequate information about them that can lead to arrest.
The second-generation drinks which have been on the rise within the area will also be eliminated, some of which Marete said are illegal.
