Nairobi - Police are investigating theories that the attack on Makueni MP Daniel Maanzo could have been an inside job after he and his wife were attacked at their home.
The MP was attacked in the wee hours of Wednesday morning at his Hardy home in Nairobi's plush Karen Area.
It is understood that the thugs who are believed to have numbered between four and six gained access to the MP's home by climbing over a larger perimeter fence before smashing open a back window.
They then took to the MP's bedroom where they hit him and his wife on the head severally before escaping with some valuables, including a laptop, mobile phones and cash.
The alarm security system at the MPs house did not go off while his dogs did not raise alarm too, raising questions that it was an inside job.
Langata area OCPD Titus Yoma said they are investigating various theories considering the ease in which the thugs gained access to the MPs house.
" We are looking at various leads and theories centering on the ease in which the thugs gained access to the house. We are looking at such, he said.
Yoma also said that they were investigating why the MPs househelp was not injured in the attack and how his security team did not react to the matter.
" We are also looking for the criminals who we are told escaped on foot.
Maanzo is a first time member of parliament for Makueni.
