Police investigate cause of Fidel Odinga death

04 January 2015, 13:01 William Korir

Nairobi - Police are investigating the cause of death of CORD leader Raila Odinga's son Fidel Castro who died last night at his home following a night out with friends.

Fidel was found dead at his house in the posh Karen area Sunday morning after meeting friends last night at popular Nairobi bars then driving home.

Police, who arrived at the scene as soon as the incident was reported, quickly cordoned off the area and proceeded quickly to piece together the mystery of his death.

According to sources, Fidel's body was not harmed physically and nor were there signs of difficulty.

It is understood that he was with three friends the night before his death and police have moved to find their whereabouts and question them.

The flamboyant Fidel was known by many as a polite and humble person, who was not afraid to mingle despite his status as being a part of one of Kenya's most prominent families.

CID director Ndegwa Muhoro was at the scene leading investigations into the matter.

There had earlier been rumours that his death might have been sinister but those reports have been calmly killed off on social media.

The body has been taken to the Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi.

The family is expected to release a statement on Fidel's demise in due course.
