Police intercept large haul of marijuana on transit
10 January 2013, 17:44
Police in Nyahururu on Wednesday intercepted a marijuana consignment of unknown value along the Nyahururu - Nakuru highway following a tip off by members of the public.
Confirming the incident, Nyandarua North OCPD Benjamin Onsongo said that the marijuana is suspected to have been destined for Nakuru.
The destination and the source of the consignment could not immediately be established since the driver of the vehicle escaped.
The public suspected something amiss because the private Toyota car that was transporting the marijuana was being driven at a very high speed.
The driver of the vehicle fled on foot after noticing that he was being followed by a police vehicle near Laikipia University College.
The vehicle was towed to Nyahururu police station and police have launched investigations into the matter.
