Nyahururu - Nyandarua North District Police have netted bhang worth half a million shillings at Agostino area in Nyahururu sub-county.
Confirming the incident, Nyandarua North OCPD Benjamin Onsongo said police were acting on a tip from members of the public when they netted 3 050 rolls of bhang, 105 packed bundles and half a sack of unprocessed bhang.
According to Onsongo, one suspect who is believed to be the main supplier of bhang in Nyahururu town and its environs was also arrested and is set to be arraigned in court.
Onsongo said the suspect has been using street boys in the town to supply the drug to various destinations.
The police boss thanked his officers and residents in the area for embracing the Nyumba Kumi initiative, which he said had culminated in the arrest of the suspect and impounding of the haul.
“Nyandarua will not be a place for these crimes. It’s a breakthrough in the fight against drug abuse and we are so happy. We want everybody to comply with the law,” he said.
