Busia - Police in Busia Tuesday impounded a vehicle and confiscated 20 bags of unaccustomed sugar that was being ferried from Uganda heading to a neighboring town through the porous borders of Busia.
Confirming the incident, area police boss, Francis Nguli said that the vehicle declined to stop at Korinda road block after being stopped by police and instead sped towards Bugengi at the Busia-Mumias road.
"The officers pursued the vehicle and caught up with the probox with the registration number KBN 309L and impounded the 20 bags of sugar. We have detained the vehicle and the driver at the Busia police station," Nguli said.

He however stated that they will never relent their efforts, but will ensure that the unaccustomed goods and other illegal immigrants will never pass through Busia since the security agents in the region are very much alert.
Nguli however called upon members of the public to work closely with the security agents to ensure that law and order is maintained within Busia County.
