Narok - Police in Narok have arrested two people and recovered cedar posts worth KES 1.2 million from them.
Area CID boss, Peter Ndubi says the suspects were arrested at a house where they had hidden the 5 000 posts.
Ndubi noted that the culprits, who are suspected to have logged the cedars from the Maasai Mau forest, will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
"The suspects were arrested in Thika. Investigations are ongoing and they shall be arraigned in court anytime," noted Ndubi.
According to the county KFS director David Ronoh, cedar trees have greatly reduced hence the need for measures to curb illegal logging.
Ronoh warned that those found cutting the trees will be punished severely and further called for concerted efforts to preserve forests in the country.
