Mombasa - Police in Mombasa have been blamed for failing to eliminate a killer gang that is terrorizing residents in the county.
This follows a spree of attacks by an armed gang believed to be carrying out attacks on a motorbike within the Mombasa Central Business District and have not been arrested.
On Saturday an armed gang in Mwembe Tayari attacked a group of five village elders seated in a Baraza and killed one of them, and seriously wounded others.
One of the survivors, Mohamed Shahid, said he was shot in the stomach by the the gangsters who then disappeared on a motorbike.
The locals now want police to explain why they have failed to arrest the three-man-gang that has been terrorizing people in the area.

“Old men usually sit here sharing stories in the evening but this incident is an indication that there is no security here," said Amir Mudathru, a neighbor.
Another village elder Din Sharif from Kidogo Basi was shot on the shoulder while the other one was injured in the stomach.
A report from security circles had revealed that the gang is in a group of notorious criminals the police are pursuing.
Recently a police officer guarding a local hotel was shot dead by the said gang.
Mombasa County Commissioner Nelson Marwa said police have the information about the notorious criminals and they will soon be arrested.
