Pesa Mashinani not part of CORD's Okoa Kenya: Ruto
11 October 2014, 15:48
Nairobi - The Pesa Mashinani campaign has nothing to do with CORD's Okoa Kenya, Council of Governors Chair Isaac Ruto has said.
In the last few weeks, the two campaigns have taken a similar path with leaders from both sides looking to consolidate support from Kenyans by putting the two together.
Ruto was also on record two weeks ago as saying that the two are eyeing the same things and thus they might consolidate the two.
But speaking Saturday, Ruto quelled reports that the two are one and the same.
" They are not one and the same thing. That is not true", he said of the campaigns.
" We have our own agenda and even though at some point the two of them agree in some way, we are only looking for an increase in funds for devolution. They on the other hand have other ideas", he added.

Ruto also spoke about the ongoing talks with government on ways to increase funds for devolution but insisted that Pesa Mashinani is still on until the government agrees to their demands.
" Pesa Mashinani is still on. That is the status".
" We are looking for ways with the government on what to do as regards funds for devolution. That said, unless we get the funds, we will push on with Pesa Mashinani", he added.
The Pesa Mashinani campaign has already started signature collection and will look to get 1 million signatures to help it move towards the referendum.
