Peace Forums

26 July 2012, 12:54Joseph Mukubwa

Every County will hold peaceful forums this coming Monday and Tuesday.

The forums will be attended by delegates who are now being trained, local leaders and members of the public in the 47 counties according to the National Cohesion and Integration Commission(NCIC) secretary, Michael Maina Ndung’u.

Speaking during a training workshop at a Nyeri hotel yesterday, Ndung’u said the peaceful forums will ensure there will be no violence, before, during and after elections and also will ensure peaceful transition.

The secretary who was accompanied by a member of National Steering committee on peaceful elections Hassan Noor Hassan said some committees are trained on how to run the peace committees in every county.

About 30 delegates will attend the conference from each constituency next week ahead of the national conference to be held later in Nairobi.

“We would like senior civil servants to go at home in order to attend the conferences and give suggestions on peaceful polls. Government should release senior managers in order for them to go and listen to their people,” said the Secretary.

Noor said every Kenyan is united to ensure peaceful polls during the forthcoming elections.

“We should agree that Kenyans will never turn against Kenyans in the name of elections,” said the former PC.

He assured investors that that the country will remain peaceful all through.
