Nyeri - A Nyeri pastor was Monday arraigned in court for defiling a nine-year-old girl who is his follower.
Pastor Simon Bundi Mutegi allegedly defiled the minor at Chaka Trading Center on October 16, 2014 before accompanying her to a prayer meeting in the same village.
Mutegi was alternatively accused of indecently touching the private parts of the class four pupil.
However, while appearing before Nyeri Principal Magistrate Susan Ngungi, the pastor denied the charges.
He was represented by lawyer Andrew Kariuki who requested the court to release the accused person on bond terms and be supplied with copies of charge sheet and witness statements.
He was released on KES 200 000 bond with a surety of similar amount or a cash bail of KES 100 000.
The prosecutor will produce three witnesses in the case which was slated to be heard on January 22, 2015 with a mention set for November 21, 2014.
