Nakuru - Hundreds of commuters were left stranded on Thursday morning at Nakuru bus terminus following Matatu shortage.
A spot check revealed that most of the affected people were intending to travel up country for the festive season.
According to James Owina, a passenger who was to travel to Kisumu, he was forced to cancel his journey since there were no buses at the stage.
Owino said most of the buses from Nairobi to Kisumu were in full capacity and that he could not afford to pay Nissan fares because they were too high for him.
Meanwhile, business was booming for the few operating public vehicles with many drivers interviewed saying they are being overwhelmed by the high number of commuters.
Peter Nderitu, a Matatu driver operating along Nakuru-Naivasha route said that at the moment they are making good money due to the ongoing festivity.
“At the moment our business is doing so well because we are having a lot of commuters during this festive season,” he said.
