Nairobi - Parliament buildings has been blocked off from members of the public ahead of the 2015 budget reading.
The budget reading will take place Thursday afternoon and will see nearly all members of parliament, Senators and senior officials at the buildings.
Thus the blockage.
Motorists have been barred from passing through the area for the last month but for the day, pedestrians have also been barred.
There is also an added presence of police officers and paramilitary personnel as well as plainclothes officers.
" This is a big event in the country and the required security presence will be maintained, Central Police boss Paul Wanjama said.
There has been added security around parliament in recent months after it was targetted by terrorists for attack in a report released by police.
The Al Shabaab terror group has apparently targetted the buildings to make a serious statement of intent on its war against Kenya.
